67. Memory and Creativity

Questions on Memory and Creativity:

Why I combine these two subjects?

Can we train memory power?

Can we be creative?

Now let’s look at these two subjects separately

Memory:

The classic text of memory on a scientific ground is a book written by Eric R Kandel, a winner of the noble prize. He discovered the molecules of memory.

Last year I attended a talk by a practical memory guru. He name is Nishant. He can impress you with his number memory and memory of thousands of unrelated items
But he told us that when we was a teenager he had an ordinary memory.

So Memory is a learnt skill.

Creativity:

Edward De Bono is another guru on creativity subject. In his latest book titled: Think. The first topic in that book is creativity. He asks this provocative question. Is creativity a talent or a skill? Obviously if creativity is a talent then we would not have spent so many hours writing a chapter of a book on creativity.

So Creativity is a learnt skill. Creativity is problem identification ie by putting two irrelevant identities into meaningful one . Creativity is not problem solving.

Now I have a reason to put these subjects into one category is valid.ie Memory and creativity is two sides of a coin.

Creativity is like when looking at raw data and find different meanings

The next question is how do we acquire memory and creativity skills?

Think of a simple solution: We need to learn Memory & Creativity skills in a creative way. Treat these two entities as one subject.

Below is a simple maths sum. Do you accept the verdict or do you insist on your own findings?

1 + 1 = 1

1 + (-1) = -1

Recently I saw three children they were cycled in a loop in an open ground. They were about 8 to 12 years old kids. They talked and cycled in a loop, while cycling they were chasing each other and during the chase; A, being the elder said it loudly to the rest, he said: 1+1=2 in an affriemative tone , a girl behind him heard it and echoed 1+1=2? with a querry tone? I heard a younger boy behind the girl was shouting to the girl: "1+1=2 you also don't know, you are stupid."

The girl silent, looked rejected and deoriented, talking to herslef quietly 1+1=2 and why 1+1 can not be 1.

Confucius said: "If three of us are walking together, at least one of the other two is good enough to be my teacher" "三人行,必有我师" "sān rén xíng,bì yǒu wǒ shī"

I think the young girl was the smartest among the three children.

What we need to do?

First of all we need to improve our memory power. Creativity comes easy with good memory function.

Remove Reward and Punishment systems that do not promote Creativity.

So for every three persons in a team there will be a teacher emerge. My version today is " For every three persons in a team there will be a genius born"-Simon Kong
