171. Challenge this Month

In this month of Dec 2012 we have two major challenges: One is to challenge our existence as a human race. It is vey glad that the world is not coming to an end yet and we, this genaration of human race is different from our ancestors who had lived in a shadow of mystical fear, a fear of worrying the end of the world in 2012. Let us Celebrate as we witnessed the earth is still rotating straight, and spinning on the right path. The second challenge links to the first challenge because as we celebrate, especially in this month we have many occasions sitting in front of dinning table consuming good foods, liquor, wine, coffee or smoking etc. This is a real challenge for many of us. This again reminded me as we have just celebrated our father 92nd birthday with delicious and satisfied meal. I ponder about what will make us live a bit longer, add 20 years more good, extra, healthy years to our lives? May be one can consider... - Moderate body needs - Moderate greed level

170. A whole new millennium begins in 2013

Maya calender is going to end next week. I foresee nothing would happen at that date. Maya cilvilsation declined at a peak of imperialism and capitalism. Let's examine what human race did well for last few millenniums. 1) Discovery of antibiotic. The biggest enemy for mankind is not meteorite (of course it will come one day), it is not war and violent, it is not ignorance, but it is virus attack. 2) The discovery of Science for better chance of predicting natural disasters. 3) The moral principles of religions. 4) The ability of understanding the nature of sleep. 5) Recycling contaminated water. Here are some trouble spots human race did not do well. 1) Capitalism promotes uncontrolled wastes, pollution, and it created many people with angry mind. 2) Communism makes many people with lazy mind. 3) Healthcare systems do not satisfy mankind development. People need to develop a mentality of self-help group. Year 2013 will be the beginning of breakthrou

168. Life is Fun

Life is Fun , the Gangnam Style (GS). GS U tube more than one billion hits is phenomena because PSY brings in humour, movement, high energy music, participation, engaging all our senses in a relaxation mood. Very soon the fab will be gone and the thirst for people seeking fun remains. We should promote this type of human nature. Fun promotes Creativity. Jealousy promotes Hatred. -- Simon Kong

167. Happiness

Image
This is my latest reflection on this topic: Happiness Happiness is a combination of generosity, abundanceness, courage, courtesy, filial peity or laughter. The above observation is based on a person character. However a common understanding of happines is derived from "giving", "emptiness" which is not easy to comprehend. With all the understanding and practice. If one still feels unhappy then I must say that this is due to human nature because only 30% of the population are born with happy genes. New opportunity: The remaining 70% of population can be happy persons. Just decide to be happy. "Happiness is an unwritten religion, every one believes in it." -Patrick Chang

166. How to avoid ignorance?

Image
I believe humans have the ability in living out of jealousy, fear and ignorance. We are given enough resources to contain our weaknesses. Awareness is a first lesson to learn. Begins with learning how to separate accidental occurrence with cause and effect occurrence. Be aware that we do not always believe 100% in what we see and what we feel. Use our slow logical mind, good intention to analyse a new situation that is one way to avoid ignorance. There are many examples in which a brain can go malfunction under certain conditions such as sleep paralysis, unknown fear, seizure, panic attack, hallucination etc. These problems can be solved by brain learning and letting body and mind fully rested. In every unexplained phenomenon it must not be always linked to spiritual encounters or higher experience. For example, in a tougher 350 miles Arctic run with condition at minus 40 Celsius. Due to constantly lack of sleep, runners experienced hallucination. Here is an expression of w

165. Time is finite

Image
Time is a dimension in which events can be ordered from the past through the present into the future,[1][2][3][4][5][6] and also the measure of durations of events and the intervals between them.[3][7][8] Time has long been a major subject of study in religion, philosophy, and science, but defining it in a manner applicable to all fields without circularity has consistently eluded scholars.[3][7][8][9][10][11] Nevertheless, diverse fields such as business, industry, sports, the sciences, music, dance, and the live theater all incorporate some notion of time into their respective measuring systems.[12][13][14] Some simple, relatively uncontroversial definitions of time include "time is what clocks measure"[7][15] and "time is what keeps everything from happening at once".[16][17][18][19] – Wikipedia. Lost time is never found again. - Benjamin Franklin Life Cycle. Value our TIME 0 - 25 Spring 25 - 50 Summer 50 - 75 Autumn 75 - 100 Winter We

164. Jealousy is a mind natural response.

Image
Jealousy is a mind natural response. It is like an object which has sharp corners, wisdom can make it round and smooth. My friend Patrick gives me this definition of jealous and envy. "Envy is admire it has no bad intention but jealousy is not happy with what others have and it has bad intention". Norberto R. Keppe said : the more envy, the less health and sanity; the less envy, the more health and sanity. When I was a child, keeping fighting fish was one of my hobbies. I had a very beautiful and colourful fighting fish, my favorite and my happy time. One day I caught a big and ugly fighting fish, and its size was one and half size of all of my collection. I put my favorite with this new comer for a fight. The verdict was very obvious. I could not bear the pain and stop their fight. Subsequently, I decided to put them in different environments; obviously, I put the new comer into a very non-conducive environment. A week later I put them on a fight again. This time

Usain St. Leo Bolt is the world record and Olympic record holder in the 100 metres, the 200 metres and (along with his teammates) the 4×100 metres relay. His 2012 record breaking margin for 100 m, from 9.63 to 9.58 second, is the highest since the start of fully automatic time measurements. "For me,the man to beat is the clock. It's never one single person. I know that it takes to be a champion. All I can do is focus and get it done." - Usanin Bolt. Among the best of the best, everything being equal the winner is the one who sets and sees goal ahead and stay focus.

159. Stephen R.Covey 7+1

Image
Quotation: The inside-out approach to personal and interpersonal effectiveness means to start first with self; even more fundamentally, to start with the most inside part of self , with your paradigms, your character, and your motives. The inside-out approach says that private victories precede public victories, that making and keeping promises to ourselves recedes making and keeping promises to others. It says it is futile to put personality ahead of character, to try to improve relationships with others before improving ourselves. — Stephen R. Covey (1932-2012) Stephen Covey made his best 7 habits in completion by adding one more 8th habit "Independence or Self-MasteryThe First Three Habits surround moving from dependence to independence (i.e., self mastery): Habit 1: Be Proactive Take initiative in life by realizing that your decisions (and how they align with life's principles) are the primary determining factor for effectiveness in your life. Take respon

158. A tug of war of mind

Image
A tug of war of mind between Government agencies and financial whiz kids. A Chinese saying: Words worth a thousand unit of gold; spoken words must be trustworthy. Its meaning can be expressed by words spoken by a charismatic man, Mr. Mario Draghi, President of European Central Bank. He said: Within our mandate, the European Central Bank is ready to do whatever it takes to preserve the euro. And believe me, it will be enough. He made this statement in just ten seconds. Draghi told an investment conference in London on July 26. With his comment, financial markets across the globe recovered billions and billions of their values. This is a tug of war of mind because those short sellers on currency, shares have to recover their positions. Bonds Fall. It made the situation bad when rating agencies recently commented about the poor financial health of some Europe countries and America. Will Mr.Draghi follow his back up plan, we have to wait and see.very soon? Market economy h

157. Competition and Olympics

Image
A human mind is funny and amazing, when we are being conditioned to compete in a game or sport, our minds will automatically gear towards survival mode, competitive mode, and we want to win. We recently played an ice-breaker game in a social setting, there was no rewards, no prizes in the game, however, teammates in each team were ready to put up their best, faster and smarter. Olympics 2012 is around the corner. The motto for the London Olympics 2012 has been revealed as "Inspire a generation" The generic Olympic motto is the hendiatris Citius, Altius, Fortius, which is Latin for "Faster, Higher, and Stronger." When I examine the motto of Olympics. It would be good by adding one more word that is "Faster, Higher, Stronger and Fitness " so that all athletes are busily competing with less body injury. Competition with cooperation so that one can make more friends while competing.

156. Wasting People Time

Time is the "only asset' we have. Yes property, cash, antique are assets but the only real asset is TIME. 'In financial accounting, assets are economic resources. Anything tangible or intangible that is capable of being owned or controlled to produce value and that is held to have positive economic value is considered an asset. Simply stated, assets represent value of ownership that can be converted into cash (although cash itself is also considered an asset).' - Wikipedia. By the conventional wisdom, TIME is not an asset. We keep a tree and miss a jungle… Imagine that we have developed penny wise, pound foolish; similarly we also can make ourselves money wise but time foolish. In an event of punctuality. When someone waited for us for half an hour because we are late for appointment, for whatever reason, we in fact are wasting that person 30 min of his/her precious life. Can you feel it? When we are engaging some unproductive activities or events, w

155. My First Impression

Image
My First Impression: The first impression on people, location, event, activity is about emotion, it in not about fact. Fact finding would come later in a perception and learning cycle. 154. Up Up Up, Down Down Down of Civilisation

A personal life or a financial world is in a kind of cyclical nature. It can be spiral upward or spiral downward, stagnation and setback are short and temporarily. Reflection on my Mount Kilimanjaro trekking trip. I spent most of my first half of June on mountain climbing. Climbing an icy cold mountain with thin air is not an easy task for me and for my family members because we live in a tropical country a whole life and we have two weathers: summer and raining season. Despite our age disadvantage, We made it to the second highest point, our limits; Stella Point of Mount Kilimanjaro at 5745m on two feet, without assistance of ams pill (acetazolamide), diamox or viagra. We experienced no headaches, it was simply amazing. Thank you Mt. Kilimanjaro for given us permission to climb, credit must also go to our kind hearted helpers and all professional guides, especially the descending part. As my wife put it in this way: "climbing this mountain is not for everyone", espec
