140. Lucid Dreaming

A lucid dream is a dream in which one is aware that one is dreaming. The term was coined by the Dutch psychiatrist and writer Frederik (Willem) van Eeden (1860–1932).[1] In a lucid dream, the dreamer can actively participate in and manipulate imaginary experiences in the dream environment.[2] Lucid dreams can seem real and vivid.[3]" - wikipedia

An older record of lucid dream was cited in Zhuangzi 2400 years ago (400bce). In Zhuangzi dream, he transformed himself into a butttefy. When he woke up he wasn't sure whehter he was in a butterfly or a butterfly was in his body. - An highthened experience.

"Zhuangzi dreaming of a butterfly (or a butterfly dreaming of Zhuangzi)Another well-known part of the book,is usually called "Zhuangzi dreamed he was a butterfly" (莊周夢蝶 pronounces as Zhuāng Zhōu mèng dié).

Once Zhuangzi dreamt he was a butterfly, a butterfly flitting and fluttering around, happy with himself and doing as he pleased. He didn't know he was Zhuangzi. Suddenly he woke up and there he was, solid and unmistakable Zhuangzi. But he didn't know if he was Zhuangzi who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming he was Zhuangzi. Between Zhuangzi and a butterfly there must be some distinction! This is called the Transformation of Things." -wikipedia

It is worthwhile to understand and use lucid dreaming to our advantage. Lucid dreaming is part of our dream at night. If we can control and managing lucid dream it will add value to our life.

Why?

Let assume that we have 1/3 of time use it for making a living & working, 1/3 of our time on personal, social and family engagement. So the remaining 1/3 of time is spending on sleep. If we can recall our dream and make use of our dream state then we would increase our life quality leap and bounce.

Explore it. Our tacit knowledege is untapped

" I know that I can change a frighthend situation in a lucid dream, so I don't let myself get scared or panic. I never run away from things or persons in my dreams anymore. And the strange thing is that in waking life I don't run away either, anymore. I face things head on and don't drag situations out forever. My lucid dreams have changed the way I look at life." -VF Greensboro
