198. Short Term Memory

Short term memory is an intrinsic memory system in a person brain, it has nothing to do with memory techniques induced by rote learning or by discipline of rehearsing.

What I need to add to this article is that when we grow old, this part of short term memory has become very vulnerable. The symptoms can be from absent minded in daily living to Alzheimer. The body health condition has impacted short term memory greatly. Our mindfulness and consciousness state also related to short term memory storing and recalling.

The amount of oxygen circulate in the forehead will have direct impact on short term memory; for example when we are in an anxiety states then even a six digit number may not be able to register into our head.

Solutions to maintain good short term memory till a very old age require a person effort to keep a body active, mind alert, maintain good living environment and engage meaningful social activity.

To help improve short term memory, one can use learned techniques. Techniques such as WRITE, COMBS can help to trigger shot term memory for daily functioning.
